Professor Russell, a leading authority on AI, explores the problem of controlling, regulating and aligning Artificial Intelligence with humanity's objectives and values. He advances a new approach to Artificial Intelligence, a technology which he co-fathered - and ways to maintain control on AI,
without stifling Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Stuart Russell will discuss the conclusions of the latest AI Global Summits,
the Impacts, Rewards, Safety and Risks of large language models, and project our thoughts beyond Chat GPT & Chat-4, Generative AI, Artificial General Intelligence, AGI, also known as "Strong AI", "General Purpose AI", and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI).
A few Words on Stuart Russell
Stuart Russell is Professor of Computer Science, Smith-Zadeh Chair of Engineering, Founder and Director of the Center for Human-Compatible Artificial Intelligence at UC Berkeley. He is an Honorary Fellow at Wadham College Oxford and holds the Chaire d'Excellence Internationale Blaise Pascal - Senior Chair of Excellence at CNR in France.
Professor Russell serves as Senior Member of the AI Global Council, Vice-Chair of the World Economic Forum's Council on AI and Robotics and sits on the Advisors Board of the Future of Life Institute. He is a Fellow of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence, the Association for Computing Machinery and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He also works for the Council of Europe, the OECD and the United Nations.
He is the renowned co-author of Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach, a textbook used by 1500+ universities in 135 countries, and the groundbreaking book Human Compatible: AI and the Problem of Control.
He has received Multiple International Awards for his far-reaching work and contributions to AI. In 2021, he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).
Stuart Russell holds a B.A. in Physics with Honors from Oxford University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stanford University
